Stockman Training
We firmly believe that stockman training is an essential part of modern agriculture. The days when the vet was called to look at every sick animal have long since past! We actively encourage stockmen to examine their own sick cows, diagnose basic ailments and carry out first line treatments themselves. This requires a very subtle relationship between stockman and vet. It is possible that excess unskilled ‘home treatments’ could lead to financial losses and might have welfare implications. However, at the other end of the spectrum, we fully accept that excess use of professional services will be uneconomic. (RB is a fully registered instructor)
