Wood Veterinary Group Farm Animal Practice

Our practice has been established for well over 50 years, and has a stability of staff second to none. This means that you will be offered a consistent and high quality service, and once you have been allocated to a vet, that vet will be responsible for much of your routine work.

We aim to provide a prompt, efficient and highly skilled service to match the needs of modern agriculture. As herd size increases, preventive health becomes progressively more important. This involves monitoring performance through the use of records and recording systems, and one of our members (CW) is well recognised nationally for his abilities in the use of Interherd, NMR Herd Companion and similar recording systems. These are essential if an accurate analysis of herd performance is to be obtained. Other forms of monitoring now regularly carried out by the practice involve visual assessments, for example teat scoring, scoring for digital dermatitis, locomotion scoring, teat dip cover and other aspects of the milking routine.
We have considerable experience of investigational work, to the extent that for many years we have offered training courses to vets in other practices to allow them to upgrade their skills.

We offer a service to cattle, pig, sheep, goat and gamebird enterprises, and we have an in house laboratory.
